AWARDS FLYING BUFFALO HAS WON

Recently (December, 2008) a friend asked me for a list of all the Origins Awards that Flying Buffalo products have won. It occurred to me that each item that has won, I have mentioned it with the item, but nowhere did I have a complete list of them, and this might be of interest to some folks. That friend (Steve Crompton) created the graphic at the bottom of this page.

For more information on the Origins Awards you should check out this link.

For 1982 (in each case, the award was given out at the Origins Game Convention the following year) Citybook I won an Origins Award.

For 1983, Nuclear Escalation, Lost Worlds, and Stormhaven won Origins Awards. (At the time, Lost Worlds was a Nova Games product, but now Flying Buffalo produces and distributes them.)

For 1984 (and again for 1997, 2000, 2003, and 2006) Starweb won "Best Play By Mail Game". (1984 was the first time that category appeared in the Origins Awards)

For 1985 the Illuminati PBM game won best Play By Mail Game. (It was originally by another company, and we bought the rights to it in 1986. It subsequently won again for 1990, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994, and 1995 and was put in the Hall of Fame in 1997.)

For 1990 Wargamers Information won an Origins Award.

For 1992 Nuclear Proliferation won the award.

Origins also has a Hall of Fame. In 1988, Rick Loomis won. In 1993 Mike Stackpole won. In 1995 Elizabeth Danforth won. And in 1997 both Nuclear War and Illuminati PBM were enshrined in the Hall of Fame.
